March 8th Chill With Phil pays homage to the most crucial woman in modern Zombie lore, the woman, the myth,the legendary Barbra.

The Original Barbra
Portrayed by Judith O'Dea in the original classic Night of The Living Dead. Her Barbra was quite literally frightened out of her mind. Throughout the course of the loss of her brother until her worst fears are realized and she is eaten alive her thought process grow more and more dim as she slowly withdraws out of the horrific reality around her.
And her deepening dementia is played perfectly by O'Dea.

The Do-Over Barbra
Patricia Tallman plays this very interpretation of Barbra in the 1990 re-telling of Night of the Living Dead. Instead of falling into deep depression and schizophrenia this Barbra takes an ass kicking stance against the zombies and resorts to vengeful murder in a different kind of dementia.

The choice is yours. At the Discount Cinema in The Sunrise Mall we will be presenting the 1990 version on the big screen. We will be broadcasting damned near live from the event (okay with a two hour delay) . My many thanks to Str8Sk8. They have truly honored me by asking me to host the upcoming second annual Sk8Del Sol. I have now adopted The Cole Park Sk8 Park as my own pet project- for all the obvious reasons. I am really proud of this project which celebrated a one year anniversary today. This gives our skater boys and girls a safe place to practice their sport in a totally non threatening environment. There is much that needs to be done . The park needs increased lighting for evening play and we need to pass a bond election which would provide permanent funding for the park enabling repair and refurbishment as needed. GHOST HUNTING WITH GHURU

Last night while you were watching a repeat episode (and I am really sorry for that but more on that laster, Joey and I were tromping around the Old Hill Cemetery out on Highway 666 near Odem. The Ghost Hunters United Research of the Unexplained drove us out at about midnight. The cemetery is roughly 150 years old with grave sites dating back to the 1800's. Immediately on arrival the equipment started failing. Somehow Dave's camera managed to stay on but almost everything else failed, including the battery on my car. Joe and I both saw thinggies moving in the dark and the group experienced a variety of sounds and noises and the eerie sensation of being followed. This will air next week. There is big news afoot in the world of Broadcast Television and here it is: On February 4th "The Makers of KTOV" will launch the all new KUQI Ch 38 . The FOX Network has signed on as our affilate network and all the programs you normally enjoy on KDF FOX will now be on KUQI Fox...I have no idea what KDF will be airing but you can "check you local listings" . Meanwhile I cannot share with you the joy that having my son has brought me . I know that you have known me to be a curmudgeonly old coot , the kind of old fart that shakes his cane and shouts "Hey you kids- stay out of my yard" but the happiness that having a kid brings eclipses every problem and multiplies every delight of your day. I strongly encourage you to consider foster care or perhaps helping in another way by becoming a Casa Volunteer.

Okay fine, I admit, when I fail to prepare I prepare to fail and tonight's big show is dullsville except for the rare flick Dr. Blood's Coffin. I have no guest , nothing to talk about and live call in's . This is because I have been very busy and it was a short week. I have been trying to arrange a special promotion in smaller cities around The Coastal Bend. This involves talking to a lot of "higher ups" at various locations. You would be amazed at how many higher ups still have not come back from Holiday Vacation which I would suppose is a benefit of being a higher up. Also Joe has driving school. He is learning to drive at The Corpus Christi Driving School which is a great place to learn. Appy and Florinda are the nicest people I have met in a long , long time and it seems to be at least thirty dollars cheaper than the nearest competitor. So my apologies to folks who watch to see me run my mouth. Just get through it - enjoy Doctor Blood's Coffin.

The Most Important Film I Have Shown

If you regularly watch Chill With Phil, that is to say you have been watching for a year or two then you have seen and heard all of this before but it damned well deserves repeating.

Three years ago I picked up a phone and a semi regular viewer was telling me that had made a movie about Vampires in New Orleans and wanted it to be considered for Chill With Phil. Being a sport about this kind of thing I said to bring it over and I would have a look. I suspected I would get a super 8mm loop of one of his kids jumping off the ottoman wearing a Dracula cape and some scary make up. What I got was an amazing thirty minute prequel to a film that will probably never be made and a life long friend.

James L. Bills met me at the Q Pub with a copy of a movie he made a year or so before Katrina called "Slayer Zed and the City of the Dead". The straightforward storyline is accompanied by easily some of the haunting scenes in modern cinematography and a driving original musical score. Bills had made the film as a forward to a larger project called The Tao of M which due to Katrina will probably never be finished.

Bills almost casually mentioned that he would soon have a film released which he and his family made during thier ordeal during Katrina. Bills, his wife Tracy and then two kids (now three) survived the ravages of Katrina showing courage and determination and more than a little luck. The film as then unreleased was a result of Bills determination to keep hi high def camera rolling during the storm. I think Bills thought he might sell some of the footage to CNN or something. Not expecting the levees to break Bills was somewhat surprised by the material he would end up getting.

Refuge of Last Resort avoids the trap of bashing the Bush/ Brownie handling of the event but does not skirt the truth relying on personal testimony and recollections of those who survived.

Bills was able to get a special version of the film re -cut and cleared for television broadcast before it was released . I was proud to say that I had a world premiere on Chill With Phil. We have replayed it every year near the anniversary of Katrina by special permission from James L. Bills. Thanks to him I am able to say - No other TV show can bring you refuge of Last Resort.

Do not tune in if you think New Orleans deserved it. Do not tune in if you are looking for pictures of bloated bodies, it's not that kind of movie. Do not watch if you are scared of hurricanes or the government. Because of the B.S. word we had to make a slight edit.

Now about CWP- I am on Vacation this week (see posting below) and am cutting in some scenes from the Sk8Del Sol Competition. This is a total cop out on my part as Refuge deserves a much better presentation. So without the standard commentary by Bills and Myself- which accompanies all the other showings I will air refuge in it's entirety commercial free , as it deserves to be seen. This is made possible through no small contribution on the part of Dr. Nerd Computers and Puff N Stuff . And of course all the people who made Sk8DelSol possible like str8sk8 , Z Tech and ElectraArt Tattoos.

After Refuge of Last Resort there will still be plenty of time left so I am showing a very special DOUBLE FEATURE! This special addendum movie is thus planned to be Bill's vampire classic Slayer Zed and The City of the Dead but at this moment I cannot find my copy so I am scrambling around to get my hands on it.

This is a hell of a way to spend a Saturday night. And yes I know, being the most Important Film ever shown on Chill With Phil is like being the World's Tallest Midget but when I do things like this I feel like a total bad ass big time showman!

Next Week my vacation continues into Labor Day with my labor day special. This show took the least work of all.

In It For The Long Haul

With Phil is a lot better than usual but really that is the new show from Vent Magazine called The Vent TV. They will soon take thier regular time slot at Midnight Friday nights.
The movie is In The Year 2889. Roughly nine hundred years from now we will face a great nuclear war which will kill most of the human population and divide the survivors into flesh eating zombies and the other half into people who dress like they lived 1968. Even the transistor radio looks like older than the film actually is. The plot seems reminiscent of a thousand other movies but I hate to dismiss it as a bad film. It does star Paul Petersen a former Mousketeers and poster grown up for the child star ruination syndrome.

He is one of the cab drivers we have been fortunate enough to help make Chill With Phil. This week we have no show to speak of. Don my producer had a few days off to do the things that parents do in getting kids ready for school. Dan the owner of Green and Go cabs has been on vacation and this week and this weekend Justin and Mirabelle our control room experts have taken off as well. This leaves me with few options other than to extract a few of the contestants from an older show and group them all together in one big episode I call Go For The Green Spectacular. Another blow off show. The movie Voyage To The Planet of Prehistoric Women is a time honored favorite however and well worth watching this fascinating Russian-Coreman collaboration.
This is the third and last time we will show Voyage. It has a fascinating history. It is a Russian made film called Planeta Bur (The Planet of Storms or Stormy Planet). It was purchased by Roger Coreman who hired Peter Bogdonavich to re-write the script. Peter hired Maime Van Doren and some other nice blond girls to mill about a set wearing seashells instead of wonder bras. These girls act out a plot line based around lizard worship while Bogdanovicth tries hard to make it all make sense. Coreman like the result so much that he commissioned the film to be re-worked a few years later and instead of Van Doren we have Basil Rathbone in Voyage to the Prehistoric Planet.

And speaking of pre-history...This is a snapshot dating back to 1996, probably around Christmas with Greg Tiller my on air partner at 102.3 The X , the legendary classic rock station which went off the air in 1999 and was transformed into 102.3 JAMZ which got sued for saying jamz and then became 102.3 The Beat...

Tiller who also seems to be able to take time off work was back in town this week with his new wife and announced that at 46 years old, he is about to become a daddy for the first time!

Stanislaw Lem and the Old Coliseum

He was either a communist spy, a highly educated welder or he did not exist, but Stanislaw Lem turned out some of the best science fiction known. He is easily the Unsung Hero of sci-fi literature and is best known for Solaris. Solaris was made by Russian director Tarkovsky is 1972 and remade in America in 2002 (with George Clooney)...the former being heavily diluted by the communist government which heavily censored the work virtually reversing many of the messages of the original book. I am not going to show you Solaris. I am going to show you one of the best science fiction film ever made The First Spaceship on Venus, based on Lem's novel The Astronauts.

He was born in Poland in 1921 and spent his young life welding and attending various universities around Poland. The writer Philip K. Dick posed himself as an enemy of Lem (Dick had a lot of problems with science fiction writers) and once sent a letter to the FBI accusing him of being a communist spy and cited Lem's obvious intellect as "proof" of his allegations.

A Brazilian book critic once accused the United States of using computers to generate Lem's writings citing the name LEM as the abriviation for Lunar Excursion Module used by NASA to explore the moon.

First Spaceship On Venus is visionary in it's depiction of a multi national crew aboard a spaceship, working together as one to accomplish a mission. This predates Star Trek by more than a few years.

Jeeper's Creepers is about a spring break gone really, really bad as a brother and sister fall prey to The Creeper, a centuries old beast which has a need for specific body parts. Although the reason why some people have tastier bits than others it is clear that Creeper needs a new pair of eyes.

Now-I want to seriously thank the Corp us Christi Film Society and all the people who participated in the first of what I am certain will be many Corpus Christi Seven Day Film Project. This amazing feat has been accomplished and the results are phenomenal. If you don't know what I am talking about click the link above or hear me out: A few weeks ago the CCFS issued a challenge unique to this genre- register and begin making a film- you have seven days from start to finish. To make certain that no one cheated on the time allotments teams of filmmakers were given specific criteria whic had to be included in the film. These were : Inclusion of a character named Archie Dennis, a photographer, the manila envelope the rules came in must be used as a prop and the line "This changes everything" had to be used in the script.

The CCFS has proven what many have doubted- this town is choc-full-o-talent! That there are amazing people doing amazing things in the seedy underbelly away from the shopping malls and all you can eat buffets which dot our landscape and have become for Corpus Christi our cultural standard.

I finished watching the two disc set a few minutes ago and was astonished that 90% of this work is truly good film making! The remaining ten percent is not even half bad. The themes run from horror and psychodrama to pure comedy-all utilizing the three of the same principal elements of prop,line and character. In some these are central to the plot, in others they are barley noticeable. In some film Archie Dennis is the central figure, in others he is a mere extra. It is fascinating to observe how various individuals can create completely different structures based on the same building blocks. And the amazing part is that they did it in a friggin week. If I go to the laundry and go to the post office during any seven day cycle, my week is done. These people are to be highly lauded and appreciated. It is damned shamed we can't do this everyday. It is damned shame that we need to have contest to bring out the creative energy and talent that seems to be festering like giant pustule ready to explode onto our community.

For me this is a real dream come true! When I started Chill With Phil my vision was to include as many indie films as possible. Along came James L. Bills and Clint Milby who gave me their films to air and introduced me to a couple of others but no matter how hard I tried the ball never got into my court as I would have liked. The Corpus Christi Film Society and the individual filmmakers have given me the opportunity to showcase a lot of the films . This is what we offer you on our Independence Day Chill With Philm (get it- Philm-film-?haha) Spectacular.

There were no losers in this competition. There were grand prizes handed out but every single person and team which even tried to make a film won. I have not been told who won what awards and which were honored at the showing at the House of Rock. I have selected the films you will see tonight on my own personal preferences. I am showing about 30% of all those entered which I have selected because I liked them. The inclusion of any film on this special episode does not convey the opinion of the judges of the event. At a later date I will find out who won what and publish it here.

My best wishes to the CCFS. I pledge to them that I will work very hard to promote this event on an annual basis. I might even enter next year.

Not so much hints as just a tiny sample. In the end I chose 12 movies.I want to make it perfectly clear that not being included is no mark of a "bad movie"- no way-...

Many were not included because of potty mouth language. I just do not have the time nor inclination to be the script editor. I am going to suggest that next time we do this films which wish to be shown on air hand me a "broadcast ready" version.

The ones I did choose were the ones which kept my attention for eight minutes. It's that simple.I am in no way to be considered a judge of good films! Look at my schedule to the left! Those are some of my favorites! Not a great benchmark of cinematography! It's just my lousy opinion and if you feel "rejected"- don't. Get with me, I'll find a way to run your film on air.

Elvis, Cab Fare, and Pigs

There's a brand new look to tonight's big show! We are darned near live from the back of a Green and Go Cab! I have the pleasure of interviewing Liz Peters from The Starplex and give you a chance to win tickets to see any movie you want! However tonight we have a real rare oddity for you.. Originally released as "Daddy's Deadly Darling" and rated X the recut version is tamed for television but still pretty violent. This is a review I found on IMDB which sums it all up:
Directed in 1972 by popular noir-gangster actor Marc Lawrence'('The Asphalt Jungle') 'Pigs', which was originally released as 'Daddy's Deadly Darling', was his 2nd and last attempt at directing low-budget exploitation horror.

Made primarily to launch his daughter, Toni Lawrence, into acting stardom(which, by the way, didn't go to far. She only appeared in 6 films, 4 being for TV), 'Pigs' tells the story of Lynn Webster, a young woman who murdered her father after being raped, and was then sent to an asylum for being deemed crazy as she refuses to believe he's dead. With that all set-up in the first few minutes of the film, Lynn then makes her big escape in a VW Bug out to the country where she makes her way to Zambrini's road-side diner. Now Zambrini (played by the elder Lawrence) isn't exactly what you would call sane either, as he has a habit of stealing corpses and feeding them to his pigs. Anyhow, he of course takes her in, hiring her as a waitress, and the two begin to form an absurd father/daughter relationship. It isn't long until Lynn resumes her murderous ways, which makes it very convenient for Zambrini. She supplies the bodies .....he feed's the pigs. Not a better pairing since chocolate met peanut butter, kind of like in those old Reeses commercials.And of course I need to remind you that PNS II is coming!

Hudson and Carrera get it on!

Some of the caps are exclusively available only on this blog. The stills of Barbara Carrera looking very sexy and stunningly beautiful showing her naked breast and even more will be of course deleted from the on air showing as per "the Janet Jackson Laws". However Rock Hudson will show his bare chest. The cast is really good and considering a low budget the movie delivers more than a few great performances however be forewarned that it is very thin on horror show plot!
It is much more of a sci-fi crime drama than anything else. Most of the 104 minute long film is dedicated to showing how this modern day Frankenstein's monster can be really smart and a charming conversationalist in addition to being able to lure Hudson into her somber bed-chamber! A feat few women have successfully managed! So be ready to stay the course as most of the insane drug related killing happens during the last eight minutes. We will still have fun as always and of course be ready to call in and win a Brown Bag Choc-Full-O-Fun.

When I was a young stud, I camped out one night get tickets to see The Who in Fort Worth, I camped out better part of a day to see The Pretenders in Dallas and I got up early to buy Cher tickets online when she opened the American Bank Center .
But I just don't get the attraction to The Buc Days Parade.
Not that the parade in and of it's self is a bad thing but the ritual of camping out and marking territory to catch a glimpse of the Corpus Christi Independent School District Float just seems like a whole lot of effort. That's just my lazy ass talking. I cannot argue with the tens of thousands who truly enjoy it and I wish them a safe and merry time this year. But if you are staying home tonight I have a real treat for you. Marijuana Weed With It's Roots In Hell. Marijuana chronicles the downward spiral of a group of teenagers from frivolity into the depths of decadence brought on by smoking the "giggle weed." A young girl drowns while skinny-dipping at a beach party. Another teen gets pregnant after a turn with her boyfriend in the sand - both the result of dope smoking. The mother-to-be gives up her baby and becomes a hardened drug dealer, earning fur coats and diamond rings while coldly turning her clientèle into drug addicts. With a central message that using marijuana incites "the user to extreme cruelty and license" and down the path to hard narcotics, this 1936 precursor to Reefer Madness is a cult classic by director/producer and exploitation master Dwain Esper. Contains nudity. Yes. There is some nudity mostly ladies' breast and buttocks however because contrary to popular believe this is not public access, I have to edit those scenes out and for that I apologize. During the edit portions please use your imagination to envision naked ladies high on pot and in black and white.

And Andy Wiseacre returns for another special guest shot and more frivolity. We sincerely hope that those who watch tonight's feature will persuaded to change their evil ways and walk away from the druggie lifestyle.

It is a rare day when folks at GH Broadcasting change jobs. Most everybody has been there for years. We are a happy lot and have a great deal of fun with what we do. It is also a mind boggling tedium of detailed work. We really get weird when one person leaves but this week we had three people leave. James moved on to Hollywood where he will probably become very successful, our master control op got another job for reasons I don't know and we need a sales person. If you are interested in a career in broadcasting call Margaret on Monday at 882 1414.

The Master Control Op is not entry level, don't get me wrong but it requires no prior experience because our system is really a technical education/ experience on it's own. We can train any one to do what we do through simple rote of everyday task preformed in a sequential order. But we require absolute perfect attendance If you have missed more than even a few hours at work this year or even been a few minutes late this is not the job for you. Don't waste time even trying to apply. It starts out with a good wage and gets better if you preform well.

The production position needs a strong understanding of Adobe Premier and Final Cut Pro. Must have a crap load of experience in full motion high def photography, graphics ability and be willing and able to work under incredible pressure and have your work dissected and picked on by people who cannot do what you do. Pays pretty good but you really do have a lot to do with it. Not a job for the timid.

Our best sales person makes about 5k a month and doesn't work on Fridays. You will need a resume with lots of prior experience.

This week we show "The Giant Gila Monster" and talk with Steven Hernandez part time teacher full time B movie buff.
Before MTV and before music videos some producers tried to launch various teen musical careers by setting drive in movies around their vocal talents. This is such a film featuring lots of wild and crazy teen aged barn dancing! A young auto body guy {sic} rocker befriends a drunken Radio Star while fighting a poison lizard. And even though the giant monster is ravaging the country side the kids still find time to spin a few tunes.

The Independents Spirit

I really want to thank everyone who came to The House of Rock on Tuesday night. We had an absolutely amazing time. The House of Rock management told me that it was the best Tuesday they ever had. I really want to thank Monte Montana of c101 for his help in promoting the event. Montana totally rocks and deserves your complete and undivided attention four hours a day at lunchtime. He is a busy man but promises to come back on my show really soon. Everyone through the door got a $15.00 Gift Certificate from Wildewood Boooks and we gave away two $50.00 gift certificates from Str8 Skate and two tickets to IFL next week. Life and Death Situations

You might remember last week I spoke about Michele's dad being in the hospital. Sadly enough a day after the show he passed away. Michele is understandably taking off again this week. Micheal Falcon, her dad is the guy in the middle shot above. The entire staff of KTOV attended his funeral today. This of course cast a dim shadow over our whole week and we of course "Condole"Michele and her family and friends. So I want to you to watch this week as my very special guest bodybuilder and personal motivator Phil Bradshaw (Mr. Texas Universe) joins us to tell us how to take control of life and start enjoying it "while we can". Phil and I actually go back "aways". Phil was mentored to some extent by Bodybuilder Tom Kelly and his brother Rex. this was about 1988 or so and shared a duplex with Tom Kelly and his wife Rose-through whom I met Phil Bradshaw. One day my 1972 Triumph Spitfire had electrical problems, truthfully it had electrical problems on more than one day- but on this day it died right in front of the house and I was running really late to work. I got and tried to push but alone this was a loosing proposition. Tom , Rex and Phil who were talking in the back yard rounded the house and started to push the tiny car. The three immense bodybuilders could have easily hurled the car down the street but instead they just sort of walked along at a clip until the car got up to a proper speed. I popped the clutch and puttered away. In my rear view mirror I could see the three of them still talking about something. They in fact never broke a sweat as if pushing the car required the same amount of energy as say swatting a gnat. He is really a fascinating person and I want you to meet him if you never have before. Also my boss Fred comes in to talk about his girly orchid collection.

The high sheriffs at the station do not want me voicing my ultra liberal so far off the left wing I fall off the plane viewpoints. That was decided a long time ago and telling the truth, I don't really want to. Chill With Phil is something to watch and "chill" after a week full of the horrors real life imposes. But tonight at midnight I had to blab my mouth about this because it really gets under my skin a lot. I would also really like to hear your comments about it. I am talking about Matt Sanchez the durl'in of the Fox News team, Bill O'Rielly , Ann Coulter and either Hannity or Colmes (whichever one is not the cool one). He is a frequent guest speaking on the intimidation of liberal students calling him names and putting him down for being all Gung Ho. Sanchez is a 36 year old Marine Reservist attending college in his junior year. He is a late in life student because he spent a great deal of his youth acting in Gay Porn and and being a gay prostitute. He failed to mention this to Fox News when they were eagerly shelling out for his guest appearances and he did not mention that he was a "Faggot" when Ann Coulter referred to John Edwards as such during the awards ceremony at CPAC- where Sanchez was awarded! Now he seems to be enjoying a modicum of "Anti-Celebrity status" although the major news networks (Least of all Fox) have picked up on the story. There was only one small blurb on MSNBC's Countdown.
My question to you is this- Last year 750 plus young brave gay men and women were booted out of the fighting forces in Afghanistan and Iraq (many of them Arab translators) for being homosexuals. Do you think this guy should be allowed to stay in the Marines? If so, why?

It was so nice to have Andy back last night! And special thanks as always to James L. Bills for making the electro-dino-vomit come out of our mouths. Now concerning the on screen menu and Tv guide listings. Not my problem.
I have to turn in movie titles six weeks prior to air. I give them Mirabelle who diligently encodes them into somebody's database and they appear on your screen. Last night the screen menu said "Dementia 13" one my favorite Coreman films and that is scheduled to show on March 31st. The Revenge of Doctor X was what you saw last night. It has been scheduled for last night since January. I don't know anything else about this except to say, I will try my darnedest to find out who is diddling this up and get the problem corrected. This weekend's presentation of Destroy All Planets features the much heralded return of the one and only Andy Wiseacre. Why don't you show good movies instead?
There are plenty of good movies on TV. This is for people who have a different set of values concerning what is good to watch.

Really? This is popular?
Surprisingly yes. We get good numbers and a high volume of calls and letters. I owe that in no small part to TV being a wasteland on Saturday night. I am even forced into watching Chill With Phil some weeks because there is simply nothing else on. I am not trying to be self depreciating but but I am also not lying. And it does seem to be funny sometimes. Right now somebody somewhere in charge of things like that told me I have about ten thousand viewers. I imagine it falls way off about 1 am which is shame because that's when it really gets good, the first two hours are just warming up.

Are all the shows live?
No very few of them are. Back when we started Andy Wiseacre and myself were in the studio on Friday night anyway, doing the show live was just our way of screwing off the last two hours of the work week. When it got moved to Saturday to make way for a rerun of Malcolm In The Middle doing shows live meant driving into town on the weekends and doing the show thus adding another day to the week. I don't want to seem lazy but I really do not want to be there six days a week unless they pay me extra.

WEHT Andy Wiseacre?
Andy and I did not break up ala Lewis and Martin. He just didn't want to do it anymore. We still stay in touch and he works at his day job.

Why is no one famous on your show?
I try to get every celeb that comes to town unfortunately celebs are few and far between in Corpus Christi and because we are on so late it seldom benefits them to be there. These shows (like mine) are about promotion. Most concert gigs (for example) have come and gone for any given weekend long before my show hits air. It was better when it was on Friday nights.Besides I got that guy from the Globetrotters just last week! Clint Milby has been there.

Who the hell is Clint Milby?
A Houston based Filmmaker of ill-repute. His website is down right now. I'll get with him this week and see what's up.

What is your best moment on the show?
I have had very few great moments but the show has had some really good ones. I can sit here and say that we had the World Premiere of Refuge of Last Resort. A film that is doing really well in the DVD market.
The Primordial Oooze Puppet Show was really good. I still hear about that one.
The Haunted Cemetery Tour with The Paranoia Paranormal Ghost Hunting Society is my favorite.

Can we order past shows?
No. I do not even tape them. They are stored inside a computer and on Monday morning they are sent to the recycle bin.

How do you repeat shows then?
We have never shown a re-run. We have repeated films but never a repeat show.

How does one get to be a guest on your show?
Two ways: You can be invited or you can buy your way in. If you want to be invited just ask and tell me why you want to come. If are even moderately interesting you are welcomed on but you cannot be there to sell something. If you have something to sell you are also welcomed. I will work out a sponsorship package and you can come on to sell your product or service. I sell this shamelessly. We are a commercial TV station driven by advertiser support.

Freaked Out February

We knew we kicked off the month right when quite by accident I was able to procure an exclusive interview with Barry Hardy from the Harlem Globetrotters. So to kick things off this weekend we will replay this fascinating interview about education. Mr. Hardy can hold an MBA from BYU and can spin a ball at the same time. The Globetrotters play during the Sports Extravaganza Sunday at 2pm.
We met Hardy at the YMCA downtown and invited about sixty of our closest friends to shoot a few hoops with him. You say what you want about Chill With Phil but no one else is giving you The Harlem Globetrotters!!! Tune in to another show- you'll see they have no Globetrotters !

This month we started off these shenanigans with a bang. More on that later- first I wantto tell you that the post office finally found my long lost copy of my long lost film Santa Claus.
Some listings may still include another film but I had to change my mind as this film (Santa Claus) is just too important. Hecho in Mejico in 1959 it has many distinctions worthy of our attention. It tends to re-write a lot of Santa Claus rules and regulations, there is for example no Rudolf, the reindeer are robots. Santa is aided by magic from a magician named Merlin who can cause temporal displacements allowing Santa to be everywhere in the world at once and the arch enemy of Santa is his anagram namesake Satan. That's right it's Santa VS Satan in Los Luches Libre Action! It also happens to be the first movie I ever saw- which explains why I am so massively screwed in the head. My mom took me to see it at the Westwood in Fort Worth in 1962. It spent several years in non-run until it was picked up by K. Gordon Murray a genius in opportunistic theater. Murray would pioneered what is now called "Four Walling". Basically paying a theater a lump sum of money and keeping the door revenues for himself. This of course would spell financial disaster were he to try this with a Hollywood film but Murray bought the rights to slightly out of date films that were of dubious quality and flooded the area with TV and radio advertising promoting the "One Day Only" showings- sometimes only one showing (usually a matinée) was made. His commercials touted these these films as extraordinary first runs (and in many cases he wasn't lying ) and promised that you would "Never see this film anywhere else". The theater was packed with kids the day I went. This is the first time I have seen Santa Claus since that birthday back in 1962. The one aspect that truly fascinated me was how much about this film was stored in the dark recesses of my mind. Santa's amazing talking telescope and Satan (Old Pitch)'s ability to warp himself around buildings were instantly recognizable as childhood memories for me. This film is not only a real treat in it's rarity but also in it's ability to horrify as well as entertain. I regret not being able to show you the scenes of the tortured damned in hell as they were cut from this Holiday Classic. So gather your children, make them stay up late and freak out with the freakiest Holiday flick ever! This week's show is pre-recorded. Soon I will make my big screen debut in "Edges of Darkness". I play Zombie #321- Coast Guard Guy and I eat Piper Goodwin. Don ran a second camera on the set while we made the one scene I am in. We call it "Rough Edges- The Making of A Scene In Edges of Darkness" and that is this week's Chill With Phil. This could be a major step forward in my career as a Mega-Personality - who knows I could even be as well known as Zombie #112 Hare Krishna Zombie from the original Dawn of the Dead.I do not want you to worry about this, no matter how big I make it I will always remember the little people....
